Yes!

We do ask for a retainer when we schedule your session because we are no longer marketing that time slot. The balance of the session fee will be due at your session.

We ask for a retainer because this isn’t our first rodeo. You, I’m sure, are the best of the human race and would NOT consider cancelling or not show up… but there are others who have come before you that have left us hanging without the kindness of a phone call to let us know they will not make it.  Before your session we are busy getting ready for you. Rooms are cleaned, lights are set, batteries are charged in 1/2 a dozen devices. There may also adjustments to family flans, etc.

That said, We realize lives are filled with complications and unexpected events.  WE WILL Work with you.  We want success for both of us.  So, keep us in the loop and let us know if there are potential complications.

We have a small studio space, best suited for headshots and product photography. We also have access to larger studio spaces or could go on location for large groups.

All the time! We love getting out around the Triangle and beyond.

That’s a definite probably! We love going on location, but private properties can require permission. We are happy to help you get any permissions necessary for your preferred site. If that won’t work, we will help you find another location.

No, Scott Faber Photography owns the copyright, and we rarely transfer ownership. HOWEVER, we do regularly grant copyright licenses that allow you to use and print the image. The details depend on the type of photography, but we are happy to explain what is relevant to your session.

In short, no. But you don’t really want them. We always go through the images and sort out the ones that failed for some reason. Maybe your eyes were closed or sneezing, or the flash didn’t flash. If we are doing event coverage, we will send you all the good ones. If you are doing a portrait session, you will have the opportunity to purchase whichever images you want. That way you don’t have to pay for the ones you don’t like.

The other thing to realize is “taking” the pictures is only the first step.  The Post (post production) on the image(s) is where the image gets “finished”  Finishing images may can be very time intensive.  Post for a 1 hr photoshoot might be an hour or it might be 10 or even 15 hours depending on the complexity of processing needed. Post that includes HDR, Stitching, Focus Stacking, masking, blending, and compositing are very computer and time intensive. But don’t worry, we will go over this beforehand so you understand the pricing and time requirements.

Rarely. Most of the time we deliver fully processed and finished high resolution jpeg files. Once in a while a client a client needs a tif file for a specific use.

To us, Raw Files are an unfinished product.  It’s kind of like going to a restaurant and ordering ingredients & wondering why the meal isn’t that good.  We have found that most of the time it is an attempt to save money but we see it as a road to disappointment.  We want to control the quality of the products we sell and selling a 1/2 finished product usually has bad results.  A number of years ago we had a client beg for the image files and then took them to a local lab to get prints.  They wanted 3 copies of everything.  They did a test run and the prints looked good.  they went back and the machine was set differently but they didn’t know it a ended up with 600 prints that looked awful.  I’m all for saving money, but I felt so bad that they didn’t spend a little extra for professional prints and ended up with a big pile they couldn’t use.
